Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto believes that corrupt practices hinder the rate of investment, job creation, and economic growth.

"Efforts to prevent corruption are important, as corrupt practices have been proven to hinder investment, economic growth, and job creation," Minister Hartanto remarked at the Corruption Prevention Action Launch event here on Tuesday.

Hence, the minister noted that the Job Creation Law was one of the means to averting potential acts of corruption.

Hartanto expounded that the law would enable to boost transparency in the land spatial sector, simplify permits in the business sector, and offer certainty in investment services.

Moreover, the law makes it easier for MSMEs to conduct businesses and increase legal guarantees for businesses by implementing ultimum remedium pertaining to sanctions.

"The Job Creation Act supports a transparent and accountable licensing process," he noted.

The minister highlighted the government’s commitment to prioritizing endeavors to avert and eliminate corruption from upstream to downstream through structuring policies and regulations in the form of instructions, directions, as well as laws and regulations.

Hartanto assessed that improving governance and streamlining public service processes in a transparent and accountable manner in financial management could be conducted by saving the state’s money and assets.

In addition, the minister stated that the launch of the National Corruption Prevention Strategy was also a crucial step to provide a reference in applying corruption prevention measures in Indonesia by the central and regional governments.

"The National Strategy for Prevention of Corruption is expected to become a policy direction implemented by all stakeholder organizations in this country," he noted.
