I called on all stakeholders to jointly work hand-in-hand to attain zero emission faster than the target.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Maritime and Investment Affairs Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan appealed to all elements of the country to work unitedly to achieve the net-zero emission target.
"I called on all stakeholders to jointly work hand-in-hand to attain zero emission faster than the target," Pandjaitan noted during a virtual exhibition on Grab's green movement here on Thursday.
At the event organized to commemorate Earth Day, the minister was buoyant that Indonesia could achieve the target of zero greenhouse gas emissions.
The government is still deliberating on the deadline for the net-zero greenhouse gas emissions to be targeted in 2045, 2050, 2060, or 2070.
"The president is keen to see Indonesia become part of the efforts to make the world friendlier and greener," he stated.
The minister applauded the commitment of online transportation company Grab to build a transportation ecosystem based on the principle of sustainability.
Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Arifin Tasrif also commended the company for its service of using battery-based vehicles and its feature on carbon tracing in waste recycling.
Tasrif noted that Indonesia had moved toward the era of battery-based electrical vehicles, starting with their use in ministries and institutions as well as local governments.
"At the public launch of battery-based electric vehicles, initiated by the ESDM Ministry on December 17, 2020, several institutions have demonstrated their commitment to speed up the target of transitioning to battery-based electric vehicles," he affirmed.
