Economic liquidity, or M2, in April 2021 increased in accordance with its seasonal pattern in the holy month of Ramadhan and ahead of the Eid al-Fitr festivity.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that broad money (M2) experienced a growth of 11.5 percent in April 2021 to reach Rp6,957.3 trillion, from the corresponding period last year.

"Economic liquidity, or M2, in April 2021 increased in accordance with its seasonal pattern in the holy month of Ramadhan and ahead of the Eid al-Fitr festivity," Head of the BI Communication Department Erwin Haryono stated on Thursday.

In comparison with March 2021, broad money experienced a growth a 6.9 percent in April 2021. All components of M2, including narrow money (M1) , quasi money, and securities apart from shares, recorded an increase.

The 17.4-percent growth of M1 in April 2021 year-on-year is higher than the previous month at 10.8 percent.

Haryono pointed to the 9.7-percent quasi money year-on-year growth in April 2021, from 5.9 percent in March 2021, driven by accelerated M2 growth in April 2021 on the back of a rise in net assets abroad, increase in net claims to the central government, and improved distribution of credit.

"Overseas net assets reached 10.7 percent yoy as compared to 7.9 percent yoy in March 2021," he remarked. Related news: Solid money supply growth maintained in September 2020: BI
