In 2020, the Ministry of Manpower had built 1,014 Community-based Vocational Training Centers (BLKs), bringing the total number of completed Community BLKs to 2,127, spread across IndonesiaJakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin inaugurated 1,014 Community-based Vocational Training Centers (BLKs) for 2020 during the "National Conference on Vocational and Entrepreneurship" at the Cipasung Islamic Boarding School, Tasikmalaya, West Java Province, on Tuesday.
"In 2020, the Ministry of Manpower had built 1,014 Community-based Vocational Training Centers (BLKs), bringing the total number of completed Community BLKs to 2,127, spread across Indonesia," Vice President Amin noted in Tasikmalaya, West Java, on Tuesday.
The total number of Community BLKs has exceeded the government’s target of 2,000 Community BLKs set at the time of its launch in 2017, the vice president stated.
"This means it has exceeded the target set during the declaration, which is to build 2,000 Community BLKs, but it turns out that 2,127 were successfully built, thereby translating to the fact that it had exceeded the target," he remarked.
The program of Community-based BLKs was created by the government, through the Ministry of Manpower, with the objective of bringing vocational training closer to the community, producing superior human resources, and providing job skills and competencies.
Meanwhile, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah is optimistic that Community BLKs would offer technical production or vocational skills in accordance with the needs of the labor market for the community, workers, and the general public.
The Ministry of Manpower has allocated programs and budgets for operational cost assistance and vocational training package assistance for Community BLKs.
"The Ministry of Manpower has also prepared a program to train instructors and Community BLK managers, so that they are able to manage Community BLK properly," Fauziyah remarked.
Community BLK is a vocational training unit in a community in non-government religious educational institutions comprising Islamic boarding schools and seminary schools across the region.
The 23 vocational programs, whose training is provided at the Community BLK, include Automotive Engineering, Refrigeration Engineering, Welding Engineering, Furniture Construction Engineering and Woodworking, Shipping Engineering, Telecommunication Infrastructure Installation, Electronics, Informatics Engineering and Robotics.
Furthermore, training is offered in the vocational fields of Multimedia, Visual Communication Design, Agricultural Product Processing (Agro-industry), Fishery Product Processing (Fishery Industry), Arts, Crafts, Batik Engineering, Fashion and Textile Design, Makeup, Languages, Hospitality, Traditional Health, Culinary Arts, and Industrial Relations.
