Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia would be able to ramp up vaccinations to one million doses per day by early July this year, Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, has said.

"We are confident that we can reach the number of 1 million vaccinations per day at the beginning of next month," he said after a limited virtual meeting with President Joko Widodo in Jakarta on Monday, which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube channel.

The Health Minister said that the President's vaccination target of administering 700 thousand doses per day has now been achieved.

Currently, Indonesia’s vaccinations have reached 716 thousand per day, he informed.

Sadikin said that his ministry is continuing to work closely with the military and the police to realize the government’s vaccination target.

During the limited meeting, President Widodo directed that the handling of COVID-19 must be coordinated through four pillars, namely the regional government, health workers, the military, and the police, the minister informed.

Sadikin said he believes that if the four components work together to discipline mobility and enforce micro-scale public activity restrictions (PPKM Mikro), Indonesia would be able to curb COVID-19. (INE)
