Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Horseback Archery Association (KPBI) grabbed two titles in the 2nd Circular Track Horseback Archery Cup 2021 held by the Performance Horseback Archery Academy in Ankara, Turkey, on June 18-19.

Kharisma Zaky won first place in the senior category, while Arsya Wening won the title in the junior category.

Another Indonesian athlete Nazlus Shobah emerged as runner up in the junior category.

KPBI Chairman, Alda F Amtha, said that the keys to the team success were prayer and strict discipline trainings.

"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), our victory in Turkey this year amid pandemic completes association's achievements in the world horseback archery forum. In 2019, we were placed second in international champion held by the WHAF (World Horseback Archery Federation) in Iran,” Amtha stated in a press release here, on Sunday.

To laud their efforts, Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, invited the KPBI delegates to Wisma Indonesia in Ankara City.

Iqbal congratulated the Indonesian athletes for their success to win the championship held in a country that has extraordinary tradition and history in the horseback archery world.

“Becoming a champion in the country where horseback archery has existed as tradition like Turkey was no easy task. However, with our serious efforts, the Indonesian team could win first place in the senior category as well as first and second place in the junior category. I am very proud of you all,” he stated.

As many as 51 Turkish best horseback archers participated in the tournament nationally held twice in Turkey. Indonesia, represented by KPBI, got a special invitation to send four representatives, comprising two representatives in senior category —Kharisma Zaki and M Yahya Ayyas -- , as well as two junior representatives — Arsa Wening Arrosyad and Arum Nazlus Shobah.

The KPBI delegates have prepared to return home. In accordance with health protocols, they have to conduct self-isolation upon arrival in Indonesia.
