The 20 oxygen concentrators provided can help treat many COVID-19 patients in Bogor CityBogor (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has provided 20 oxygen concentrators to the Bogor city government for COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at hospitals.
Of the 20 oxygen concentrators provided, five will be allocated for the emergency unit (IGD) of Bogor City Public Hospital, and 15 units will be allotted for the expansion unit of the Bogor City Public Hospital, Bogor Deputy Mayor Dedie A. Rachim said here Saturday.
"The 20 oxygen concentrators provided can help treat many COVID-19 patients in Bogor City," he affirmed.
Rachim remarked that Bogor City was currently reeling from a shortage of oxygen gas for medical purposes. Hence, the COVID-19 patient capacity at the Bogor City Hospital was temporarily reduced.
"The need for oxygen at hospitals in Bogor City for handling COVID-19 patients is very high. For the Bogor City Hospital alone, oxygen requirements reach around 4.8 tons per day," the deputy mayor stated.
Deputy Director for Medical and Nursing Services at the Bogor City Public Hospital Sari Chandrawati noted on Friday that owing to the low availability of oxygen in emergency rooms, the city's public hospital had temporarily closed its services.
Chandrawati revealed that in the current situation of oxygen shortage, the availability of oxygen is prioritized for hospitalized COVID-19 patients.
As reported by Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin on July 16, Indonesia's daily oxygen requirement has soared five folds, from 400 tons to two thousand tons amid a rapid increase in coronavirus infections.
According to BNPB’s data, as of July 17, 2021, Indonesia had recorded 2,832,755 cases of COVID-19, with 527,872 active cases.
