We can prepare children to become quality human resources as early as the first thousand days of their lives or even in the mother's womb, Setyo noted in a written statement received in Depok, West Java, on Wednesday.
During an online national seminar titled "Pursuing Golden Indonesia 2045: Raising the Quality of Human Resources and Sustainable Health Development," Setyo stated that children's cognitive development began in the first one thousand days of their lives. Pregnant mothers can ensure their children's health by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and avoiding smoking.

Meanwhile, Professor from University of Indonesia's Public Health Faculty Ascobat Gani noted that the development of quality human resources entailed focusing on a health system that prioritizes the current human capital -- population up to 20 years of age -- and the future human capital -- population in the age bracket of 20-55 years.
Gani noted that the quality of the current human capital can be maintained by providing equal and adequate health workers and healthcare facilities across Indonesia.
It can also be achieved by allocating budget for bigger health promotion, redistributing National Health Insurance (JKN) participants from community health centers to private clinics to focus on preventive promotion, and reducing the prevalence of smoking.
The other speaker at the seminar, Professor from Gadjah Mada University's Medical, Public Health, and Nursery Faculty Yayi S. Prabandari, noted that the strategy for behavioral change in health promotion can be applied through information, marketing, incentives, restrictions, indoctrinations, and regulations.
She elaborated that ensuring quality human resources necessitated comprehensive health promotion, planning, and strategy as well collaboration with other sectors and stakeholders.
