"Our subsidiary, PT Integrasi Transportasi Jakarta, currently develops new TOD areas (at five locations) in Senayan, Dukuh Atas, Blok M, Lebak Bulus, and Fatmawati (in South and Central Jakarta)," MRT Jakarta Finance and Corporate Management Director Roy Rahendra stated during a webinar hosted by the Jakarta Transportation Office (DTKJ) on Wednesday (July 28).
Rahendra believes this will drive new regional growth, as newly developed TOD areas will serve as a transportation hub where commuters could easily switch between transportation modes. The transportation hub developed in TOD would integrate the MRT, the commuter train operated by Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI), and bus rapid transit TransJakarta.
He also revealed that ongoing construction in TOD areas is aimed at developing the transit plaza, people's crossing bridge, parks, transport hub facilities, and affordable apartments intended for commuters.
Construction of TOD areas in Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta, will commence this year, and the first stone for Dukuh Atas TOD will be laid in September this year, he noted.
Earlier, PT MRT Jakarta General Director William Sabandar had stated that the future Dukuh Atas TOD would be located on Blora St., Menteng, Central Jakarta. The Sudirman train station would be the closest commuter line station from Dukuh Atas TOD.
Dukuh Atas TOD to be developed as a transport hub connecting the MRT, commuter train, and TransJakarta, with supporting facilities in the TOD area, includes bike lanes, park, and pedestrian path.
A 14-floor building with complete facilities of apartments and office and the retail area would also be constructed, and the construction is expected to be completed by April 2023.
"This is one of the first facilities of MRT Jakarta to be constructed on the basis of a 'smart green building' concept to accommodate pedestrians, bike riders, and public transportation users all at one place," Sabandar stated.
