According to a BNPB press release received in Jakarta, Tuesday, 150 thousand masks were sent to West Papua comprising 30 thousand medical masks, 15 thousand KF 94 masks, 50 thousand children's medical masks, five thousand INA cloth masks, and 55 thousand children's cloth masks.
"The BNPB also sent 50 oxygen cylinders, 50 oxygen concentrators, one thousand medical gloves, one thousand medical T-Wells, and 10 thousand units of rapid antigen test kits," Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center Abdul Muhari confirmed.
The assistance was sent from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta, Monday (August 2), aboard a Hercules aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Air Force and is scheduled to arrive in West Papua on Tuesday (August 3).
The Regional Military Command (Kodam) XVIII/Kasuari is scheduled to receive the assistance, and the management of the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) of West Papua Province will distribute it.
According to data from the West Papua Province COVID-19 Task Force, the cumulative count of residents confirmed positive for COVID-19 in the West Papua region as of Monday (August 2) reached 18,900 people of which 16,035 patients had recovered and 290 patients succumbed to the disease.
The percentage of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the region was recorded at 27.6 percent of the total 68,408 people tested, while the percentage of COVID-19 patients who had recovered reached 84.4 percent of the total number of people infected with the coronavirus.
