Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Kimia Farma Group has donated 15,900 packages of supplements and vitamins, as well as 1,050 boxes of medical masks to health workers in Cirebon and Indramayu districts, West Java province.

“We have distributed our second wave of donations, 8,000 packages and 600 boxes in Cirebon, as well as another 7,900 packages and 450 boxes in Indramayu. We hope the aid can help protect health workers,” said Nurtjahjo Walujo Wibowo, President Director of PT Kimia Farma Apotek (KFA), during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The state-owned enterprise also handed out 2,000 packages of hospital assistance to two COVID-19 referral hospitals in Cirebon, Waled Regional Hospital and Arjawinangun Regional Hospital, he added.

Another 6,000 packages were also donated to 60 community health centers in Cirebon through the Health Office, and KFA delivered 3,000 packages to three hospitals and 4,900 packages to 49 community health centers in Indramayu, he added.

The donations are part of the “We Stand with Health Workers” social movement launched by the company, he further added.

"The public can join the movement by buying multivitamins or supplements at KFA’s pharmacies," he stressed, noting that KFA will donate one box of a product for every five boxes purchased.

KFA collaborated with the Indonesian Medial Association (IDI) to disburse the aid in Cirebon and Indramayu. The association lauded the assistance, as the work of health professionals intensified due to a surge in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

According to data from the COVID-19 Information Center (PUSICOVID) in Cirebon, 1,246 people are in self-quarantine while another 705 are being treated in hospital. The center also recorded 807 deaths.

PT Kimia Farma Apotek previously distributed 5,500 aid packages to health workers in Surabaya and Malang, East Java, on July 15, 2021.
