We believe Pertamina can realize the program.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The battery-based electric vehicles program aims to realize clean energy transition, according to Director of Electricity at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Rida Mulyana.
Furthermore, developing electric vehicles and their infrastructure will reduce fuel oil imports and save the government’s foreign exchange and subsidies.
Speaking in connection with the construction of electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) by state-owned oil company PT. Pertamina (Persero), the director noted that the ministry lauded the company’s business transformation in response to global developments.
“We believe Pertamina can realize the program," Mulyana stated as quoted from his press statement obtained here on Friday.
President Director of PT. Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, remarked that as the corporation’s business hinged largely on fossil energy, the transformation had to be conducted quickly by involving a massive transition program.
Hence, in supporting the government to develop the electric car industry, Pertamina also engages in developing the battery industry ecosystem along with other state enterprises in the Indonesian Battery Corporation, she noted.
Pertamina has been involved in developing green energy stations. Currently, the enterprise has already installed solar photovoltaic panels at around 100 gas stations. Pertamina has also targeted to transform 250 gas stations into green energy stations this year, she revealed.
The president director stated that recently, the corporation, along with the Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), had built two SPKLUs at gas stations on Lenteng Agung Street and MT Haryono Street, Jakarta. Earlier, one SPKLU was developed at the Center for Science and Technology, Serpong, Banten Province.
In addition, there are three other SPKLU pilot projects at the Fatmawati gas station, Kuningan gas station -- both located in Jakarta -- as well as at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport, she remarked.
