Based on the jury's analysis, BRI was viewed as having successfully implemented GCG, based on the values and risk management in the international world.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public-listed Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) won five prestigious awards at the GRC and Performance Excellence Award 2021 in recognition of the implementation of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC).

The awards were bestowed to recognize the company's commitment to improving supervision of business and operational processes to maintain good corporate governance.

"The state-owned company will continue to maintain and improve good corporate governance and always provide excellent services to customers and the public," President Director of BRI Sunarso noted in a statement here on Saturday.

After winning three awards in the previous year, at the GRC 2021, BRI won the Best GRC Overall for Corporate Governance and Performance 2021 Award in the retail and micro banking category and the Best Board of Commissioners in Banking Industries Award, Sunarso stated.

He highlighted that BRI's management board also secured awards: The Best Chief Executive Officer (CEO) award won by President Director of BRI Sunarso, The Best Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) award bagged by BRI Compliance Director Ahmad Solichin Lutfiyanto, and The Best Chief Risk Management Officer (CRO) won by BRI Risk Management Director Agus Sudiarto.

Sunarso believes the awards reflect BRI's commitment to upholding the principles of good corporate governance -- transparency, accountability, responsibility, independency, and fairness -- in every activity and business operation.

According to Sunarso, the BRI remains highly committed to continually improving the execution of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) from the top management, especially the Board of Commissioners and Board of Directors.

The commitment is fulfilled by applying the GCG principles in every business activity of BRI, as is apparent from its vision and mission, corporate values, and policy strategy in corporate sustainability, he pointed out.

"Our commitment to accomplishing good corporate governance is in line with BRI's focus to continue to be the vanguard to save the MSME sector from the pandemic's impacts, and BRI's strategic role, as a state-owned enterprise, in helping the government to boost Indonesia's economic recovery," Sunarso expounded.

The awards bestowed on BRI were given on the basis of an objective and independent assessment by the jury, which began with the GCG assessment of over 200 companies in the country.

Based on the jury's analysis, BRI was viewed as having successfully implemented GCG, based on the values and risk management in the international world.

GRC and Performance Excellence Award 2021 Chief Organizer Irnanda Laksanawan stated that the third edition of the awards entails the annual corporate rating award aimed at encouraging companies to better accomplish good corporate governance internally and with their stakeholders.

"The organizer was inspired by the Ministry of SOEs' direction regarding the management of corporations and the State-owned Enterprise with AKHLAK core values: Trust, Competent, Harmonious, Loyal, Adaptive, and Collaborative. Hence, in the GRC system, we assess and determine corporations with a good GRC score," Laksanawan stated.
