Jakarta (ANTARA) - Some 23.99 percent of the targeted citizens have received the first dose of vaccine, while 11.3 percent of the target are fully vaccinated, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated.

"This achievement is the result of collaboration between the government, the private sector, and the community," the minister noted here on Sunday.

Hartarto lauded various parties, including the Kanisius Vaccination center at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), for offering assistance to the government to expedite the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination program.

Hartarto, concurrently chairman of the COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee (KCP-PEN), undertook a visit to the Kanisius Vaccination center to observe the progress in inoculation there.

He expressed belief that the Kanisius vaccination center can drive the emergence of other vaccine centers and raise the residents' enthusiasm to partake in vaccination.

The Kanisius Vaccination Center coordinates with the Central Jakarta Health Office and the Medical Team from Pro Sehat to involve 400 health workers segregated into two teams and 150 non-health workers.

The Kanisius Vaccination Center, which the AM64 Foundation initiated, conducted inoculation at the JCC from July 5 to July 18, 2021, for the first dose of injection and is currently administering the second-dose vaccination from August 2 to August 15, 2021, with the objective of fully vaccinating 70 thousand people.

Speaking in connection with the arrival of vaccines, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin emphasized that it should be balanced with the pace of health workers as the vaccinators.

“This month, more than 70 million will come. When we draw a comparison, we received 90 million vaccines from January to July, while now, 70 million in just a month. Hence, you can imagine that the speed of injection will have to be high,” the minister explained.
