Under the cooperation, Barata Indonesia and TreeHouz will initially build pellet plants in Pahang state, Malaysia with a capacity of 40 tons per hour (TPH).
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned PT Barata Indonesia (Persero) and Malaysia-based Treehouz Asia have said they are committed to establishing a strategic partnership to build biomass fuel plants through wood utilization and wood waste processing in Indonesia.

"Barata Indonesia strives to expand alliances to strengthen competence and respond to new business opportunities in the agro-based industry," Barata Indonesia marketing director Sulistyo Handoko said in a statement released here on Wednesday.

The company welcomes cooperation opportunities for the construction of biomass fuel plants to support co-firing programs in the country as well as to increase production of pellet mills and sawdust for domestic and export needs, he added.

As a state-owned manufacturing company, Barata Indonesia is deeply committed to improving local content in each production and national strategic project, he highlighted.

It hopes to realize these goals through its commitment to creating import substitution products, utilization of local materials, and the provision of local labor opportunities that are expected to boost productivity and competitiveness of national industries, Handoko explained.

The collaboration with TreeHouz is part of the company's efforts to boost the national economic recovery program, he said.

"We will develop this business opportunity by presenting technological excellence in the field of new and renewable energy as the future's energy solution," he added.

In addition to cooperation in the biomass field, the two companies have agreed to collaborate in the development of co-firing with biomass for alternative energy advancement to support the availability of clean and environmentally friendly national energy, he said.

Treehouz Asia managing director Tan Eng Hau lauded the cooperation for market expansion, specifically in pellet-based biomass fuels and sawdust plant projects in Indonesia.

"With the blessing of abundant natural resources in Indonesia, we hope Barata and Treehouz can synergize utilizing their respective competencies in running wood factories, bagasse pellets, new sawdust, and revitalization in Indonesia," Hau said.
