In accordance with the Scouts' slogan 'serve endlessly,' we will remain determined to serve in our respective environments by working sincerely and selflesslyJakarta (ANTARA) - The National Scout Movement bolstered its resolve to educate youth to be qualified, caring people on the occasion of National Scout's Day here on Saturday.
"In accordance with the Scouts' slogan 'serve endlessly,' we will remain determined to serve in our respective environments by working sincerely and selflessly," Chairman of the National Scout Movement Police Commissioner General (ret.) Budi Waseso stated, marking the 60th anniversary of National Scout's Day here.
Waseso noted that the ups and downs in the scout movement's journey did not lessen its determination to strive to educate youth to be useful human beings for themselves, their families, communities, and the nation, so they can contribute to the manifestation of a better world.
The chairman noted that the theme for Scout Day 2021 was "Scouts Are Devoted Endlessly In Adapting New Habits With Discipline and National Awareness" with the slogan "Scouts serve endlessly."
At the commemoration, Waseso highlighted that the Scout Movement awarded members for their achievement and devotion, including in supporting efforts to combat COVID-19.
He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic that struck in March 2020 had also hindered or delayed scouting education activities.
In such conditions, Waseso noted that the frontliners strive to organize activities that can be followed by members from home via online or face-to-face activities, with a limited number of participants by applying health protocols.
Nevertheless, he remarked that online activities also encountered obstacles, such as limited supporting devices and internet access.
"However, again, as scouts with resilience, we are striving to overcome the problems," he affirmed.
Furthermore, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) advised that Indonesian Scouts should become pioneers of discipline in complying with health protocols to stem the spread of COVID-19.
Jokowi stated at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Saturday that scouts should be role models for the public in terms of exercising discipline in wearing masks, maintaining a safe distance, washing hands, and avoiding crowds.
Disciplined adherence to health protocols is one of the keys to overcome the COVID-19 crisis, he emphasized.
"Indonesian Scouts must stand at the forefront of protecting us, our dear friends, and family. If there are friends, who do not comply with the health protocols, please remind them and provide them an understanding," Jokowi stressed.
