Individual handling will never be a solutionJakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) strongly believes that individual handling would not be a solution during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Individual handling will never be a solution," President Jokowi stated during his state address at the annual session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and a Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, Monday.
Jokowi noted that the approach of collective handling had turned out to be the only solution.
"With a culture of mutual care and sharing, this difficult test can be easily cleared," the president affirmed.
The head of state called on the people to uphold the noble values of tolerance; Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, or unity in diversity; Gotong Royong, or mutual cooperation; and Pancasila, the five principles of the Indonesian State Ideology, in the life of the society, nation, and state.
"Let us pass this pandemic test and the upcoming tests through steadfast efforts and a sincere prayer of hope," Jokowi stated.
The president reminded the people to stay healthy, remain disciplined in observing health protocols, take care of each other, and help one another.
"No one is safe from the threats of COVID-19 if there are still people who suffer from it," the president remarked.
"The pandemic has reminded us to care for each other. Someone else’s disease will become others’ disease," he stated.
At the MPR Annual Session, the Joint Session of the DPR/DPD RI, and the President's State Speech in the context of submitting the Bill on the 2022 State Budget, President Jokowi wore traditional attire of the Baduy tribe.
The meeting was held offline and online, with the attendance list indicating that 311 of the 363 legislative members had attended the event.
