Thus, the government is not alone in this effort. Although the government provides social aid, but (through this movement), the community is also helping.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) National Secretariat distributed essential commodities to the COVID-19 pandemic-affected residents of Kampung Becek Village, Malaka Sari, East Jakarta, through the "Sharing Movement for People."

"Our focus is to help the underprivileged," Chairman of the National Productivity Council (DPN) for Institutional and Interagency Affairs of Jokowi's National Secretariat, Dono Prasetyo, noted in a written statement received by Antara here on Saturday.

The Sharing Movement for People is an activity of communities concerned about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on people, especially those currently undergoing self-isolation.

This time, the Sharing Movement for People involved the National Secretariat, who directly came ahead to help people impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in Kampung Becek Village, Malaka Sari, Duren Sawit Sub-district, East Jakarta.

Essential commodities were handed out to residents in the form of 150 packages of nine basic commodities -- rice, cooking oil, butter, sugar, cow and chicken meat, eggs, milk, garlic, onion, fish, and iodized salt -- as well as 450 packs of food.

Earlier, he noted that the event was held on July 26, 2021, and the volunteers had distributed 1,329 packages of nine basic commodities.

"We, the donors, who care for this movement, share by making donations in the form of commodities and food purchased directly from local MSMEs," Prasetyo remarked.

He explained that activities of the Sharing Movement for People were a result of collaboration among various societal elements, who are professionals, private employees, students, Non-Governmental Organizations, and the President's National Secretariat to execute a sharing movement across Indonesia.

He invited people in other regions to follow suit by buying and purchasing MSME products as a form of help for affected communities.

"Thus, the government is not alone in this effort. Although the government provides social aid, but (through this movement), the community is also helping," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Kampung Becek Village Community Leader Edi Karta expressed gratitude for holding the Sharing Movement for People.

Karta remarked that the surrounding community was in dire need of help since most of them could not afford basic food supplies.

"They are really affected by everything, especially economically. For the help you have given, thank you very much. Hopefully, people around or other communities can also partake in this activity and help each other out," Karta stated.

Local residents, MSMEs, and residents that received essential commodities thanked all parties involved in the Sharing Movement for People. This activity has eased their burden since incomes had reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Thank you for buying my products. This is very helpful by purchasing and donating my food," Sati, one of the residents and MSMEs in Kampung Becek Village, stated.
