Pandeglang (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno encouraged regions to be innovative in developing tourism and creative economy sectors when speaking at a workshop on tourism and creative economy in Pandeglang District, Banten Province, on Friday.

Minister Uno stated that creative economy would grow concomitantly in vibrant development of tourism sector. Uno, therefore, echoed his ministry’s commitment to supporting the development of creative economy and tourism for regions, especially for Pandeglang District.

"Pandeglang has myriad potential to develop its tourism and creative economy, particularly the Tanjung Lesung Beach," he stated while guaranteeing support for Pandeglang District Head Irna Narulita to develop tourism and creative economy in her district.

Uno informed that his visit to Pandeglang District will commence his tour to 25 cities and districts with huge potential of tourism and creative economy in different parts of the country.

"We will start from Pandeglang to consistently support regions to enhance their creative economy and tourism sector while bolstering the local economy. I believe as long as our spirit to grow lives on, we can open new potential areas to develop the creative economy to open more job opportunities," the minister stated.

He affirmed that the tourism industry would serve as a basis for the creative economy in the region while encouraging business players to enhance the development of regional tourism to ensure world-class tourism attractions.

At the same workshop, Pandeglang District Head Irna Narulita stated that the workshop for local business players in tourism and creative economy sectors would boost their creativity and entrepreneurial skills.

"This workshop is very beneficial for Pandeglang’s entrepreneurs. We are optimistic that tourism and creative economy sectors will develop better in future," she said.

Narulita expressed optimism that the Tanjung Lesung Beach, designated as a special economic zone for tourism, would once again become a priority project of the ministry on account of its essential position to enhance creative economy development in Pandeglang District.
