If we estimate, until the end of the year, PeduliLindungi will be used by more than 100 million people.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Monday underlined the need to improve the existing state system to prepare for the possibility of future outbreaks of COVID-19.

"The COVID-19 continues to mutate. We can face multiple outbreaks in future. Therefore, our system must be upgraded. I said that our state system and governance must be revised nationally," Pandjaitan said.

It has turned out that the current system has not worked as it should in an emergency state, he remarked at the 43rd anniversary commemoration of the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), held online on Monday.

"At the moment, I am still understanding the system on how the command moves from the central government to governors, then to the district/city level. (I assess that) the system needs improvement here and there," he informed.

The economy showed strong recovery until mid-2021, with the implementation of public activity restrictions (PPKM), which have now been eased, the minister added.

However, he warned that with the beginning of many face-to-face meetings, the public should still be careful, especially considering that some people have not been inoculated yet and are also not wearing masks, because such meetings can again trigger COVID-19 transmission.

For that, he said, the utilization of SiLacak and PeduliLindungi apps has become very important. With the adoption of both applications, Indonesia has entered a new era, he remarked.

"If we estimate, until the end of the year, PeduliLindungi will be used by more than 100 million people, and it will be better than an electronic identification card which makes some (who violate the PPKM regulations) imprisoned," he observed.

In handling COVID-19, all stakeholders need to unite, with no institution being more powerful than the others because the current situation requires collaboration, he asserted.

"No one is the greatest, the great is the one who can work together in the team," Pandjaitan emphasized.
