Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir welcomed the launch of a mentorship program by BUMN Muda -- a young generation SOEs community -- and said it would help bring about a human resource transformation.

“The program provides opportunity for the young generation to learn and develop their capacity and capability to contribute -- not only as an executor, but also as a conceiver. The mentorship is a form of comprehensive and systematic human capital transformation with cross-generational collaboration," he said at the launch of the BUMN Muda Mentorship program here on Wednesday.

BUMN Muda, as a development agent, is trying to increase the capability of potential young talents to become future leaders with AKHLAK (Trustworthy, Competent, Harmonious, Loyal, Adaptive, and Collaborative) mentality, keen business insight, and excellent global competitiveness, he added.

Hence, the mentorship program aims to increase the opportunities of the young generation to become the next leaders under the age of 42 in the SOE environment, Thohir. It will also serve as an incubation medium to develop participants’ potential and competence so they will be ready to face challenges, he added.

Furthermore, the program is expected to be an instrument to help state-owned enterprises adapt in the digital era, the minister said. It also intends to accelerate SOE transformation and support the vision of ‘Excellent Human Resources, Advancing Indonesia’, he added .

"We are striving to accelerate tacit knowledge exchange from the enterprises' leaders through practical sharing among various leadership generations. The program will be a forum to prepare the best talents to become SOEs leaders. Cross-generational collaboration within SOEs is also key for them to compete at the national and global levels," head of the BUMN Muda, Soleh Ayubi, said.

The mentorship will include general mentoring, group mentoring, and individual mentoring, he informed. At each stage of the program, the mentee will be assessed, he said.

The program's materials have been designed by considering the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects by strengthening insights into corporate ecosystem exploration; collaboration-building through leadership skill; cultural and humanity aspects; innovation and creativity, as well as self-development ability, he added.

The program’s kick-off series was inaugurated with a Mentorship Conversation, which featured experienced leaders in two talk sessions.

The first session was titled ‘Work Sovereignty for Contributing to Indonesia’ and attended by the minister himself as the keynote speaker. Meanwhile, for the second session, themed ‘Empowered Women, Independent Indonesia’, SOEs Deputy Minister II, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, served as keynote speaker.
