Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned banking corporation PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) Tbk has continued to renovate elementary schools located on the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea through the 'Ini Sekolahku' (This is My School) program.

The company recently provided funding assistance for classroom renovations at Mosso Inpres (President-instructed) Elementary School, Mosso village, Muara Tami sub-district, Jayapura City.

"The program is a part of our corporate social responsibility BRI Peduli (BRI Care) to build various elementary schools which are severely damaged in the state border areas, especially in Mosso village, Jayapura," BRI's network and service director, Arga M. Nugraha, said in a statement received here on Saturday.

The program is targeted at elementary schools located in frontier, outermost, and remote areas on the Indonesian border, whose buildings are severely damaged and who are in need of assistance to build their physical facilities, he informed.

Quality human resources is the main capital for Indonesia to compete with other nations in the world, he said.

"Ini Sekolahku program will strengthen Indonesia’s basic education sector by improving the quality of the schools to be a safe and comfortable place for students and teachers to carry out the teaching and learning process," he remarked.

Moreover, BRI will continue to carry out similar programs in various state border areas by prioritizing the improvement of the quality of supporting infrastructure to help students get a proper education, he said.

"The attempt is in accordance with BRI Peduli's concept of Pro People, Pro Planet, and Pro Profit to improve the quality of Indonesian human capital, provide a suitable environment for Indonesian children, and support the long-term quality of the company's business," he added.

Earlier, the program had covered Fatukmetan State Elementary School in Kenebibi village, Kakuluk Mesak sub-district, Belu district, East Nusa Tenggara, he said.
