We will continue to inspect the offices and keep watch on the enforcement of health protocols during the PPKM period
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta Municipal authority inspected 434 offices during the enforcement of activity restrictions (PPKM) from July 26 to September 2 to check adherence to the set regulations.

"The inspection was conducted to check enforcement of health protocols in offices. We mobilised the municipal public order security agency to inspect the offices," West Jakarta Public Order Security Agency Head Tamo Sijabat said here on Friday.

Sijabat confirmed that out of the 434 inspected offices in West Jakarta's eight sub-districts, some 333 offices had properly enforced health protocols.

During the inspection, it was also found that some 101 offices had violated PPKM enforcement, mostly regarding attendance restrictions imposed on non-essential industries. The authority levied varied penalties on violating offices, with 96 offices receiving a written warning, one office being fined Rp1,000,000 (around US$70), two offices receiving a temporary closure order, and two offices having their permits revoked.

He expressed optimism that West Jakarta's offices would abide by the enforced working restriction and health protocols to prevent them from becoming COVID-19 infection clusters while also staying committed to continuing the inspection to ensure that they conformed to the regulations.

"We will continue to inspect the offices and keep watch on the enforcement of health protocols during the PPKM period," Sijabat remarked.

Earlier, Coordinating Minister of Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan confirmed that the PPKM regulations would be in force until the COVID-19 pandemic and infection rates subsided significantly.

"The government will continue to enforce PPKM during the pandemic," Pandjaitan stated.

Apart from handling the pandemic, the government will take necessary measures on economic recovery while ensuring its balance with the pandemic control, he added.

Regions will have their COVID-19 situation reassessed biweekly, and improvement in the PPKM level would apply to regions recovering from the pandemic, thereby allowing some relaxation on the enforcement of health protocols, the minister stated.
