The ministry had met with the six SOEs regarding MSME partnership opportunities in the SOE supply chain.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Cooperatives and SMEs Ministry, SOEs Ministry, and Industry Ministry have signed a memorandum of understanding on the inclusion of cooperatives, MSMEs, and industries in the SOE supply chain, with a cooperation value of Rp52.23 billion.

"In the framework of this activity, as piloting, the Cooperatives and SMEs Ministry will partner with six SOEs: PT Pertamina, PT PLN, PT Kimia Farma, PT Perhutani, PT Krakatau Steel, and PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia," deputy for SMEs at the ministry, Hanung Harimba, said at the Smesco Pavilion Building here on Friday.

Harimba said he was concerned about the strategic issues regarding the supply chain because of low partnerships of cooperatives, MSMEs, and industries in the global value chain.

The current involvement of MSMEs in the supply chain is still minimal, reaching just 6.3 percent in the global value chain, he added.

In July 2021, the ministry had met with the six SOEs regarding MSME partnership opportunities in the SOE supply chain, he informed.

The meeting resulted in an agreement that state SOEs will help in curating and selecting MSMEs, and Small and Medium Industries (IKM) cooperatives that were registered and present at the meeting so that their products could enter the SOE supply chain.

"From the SOEs' verification to the data of MSME / IKM cooperatives, there are 9 of them that can partner with the six state-owned enterprises, with an estimated cooperation value of Rp52.23 billion," he informed.

The cooperatives and other MSMEs that have registered are still in the selection and verification stage by SOEs, he added.

In addition to this cooperation, he said, the ministry has another strategic program, which is aimed at expanding MSME market access, both domestically and internationally.

"For example, through digitalization to strengthen local brands in order to go global," Harimba said.
