Taking into account the public's aspirations, the MPR concluded that the country needs state policy guidelines as a lodestar for national building and preventing this country from veering away from its planned courseJakarta (ANTARA) - People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) speaker Bambang Soesatyo reiterated the Parliament's openness to public inputs on the proposed constitutional amendment to restore the State Policy Guidelines (PPHN).
The Parliament will schedule a routine public discussion to take into account the public's aspirations and clarify circulating hoaxes relevant to the constitutional amendment and the PPHN restoration, Soesatyo remarked.
"Public discussions are our medium to clarify hoaxes and rumours on the proposed PPHN restoration, for instance, to clarify that the presidential term limit would not be amended to allow for a third term," speaker stated.

MPR's decision to propose to restore the PPHN is merely to follow up on the assembly's recommendations for the 2014-2019 term, he noted.

The speaker accentuated the significance of PPHN to ensure unceasing national development despite presidential succession to reinforce the presidential system and decentralisation regime and to ensure a constitutional and respectable national leadership.

Soesatyo stated that the MPR, through its Assessment Body and the State Administration Assessment Commission, is currently engaged in discussions with experts and academics from various fields to seek their suggestions and proposals related to the PPHN, with the process expected to conclude by early 2022.
Soesatyo expressed hope that by early 2022, the MPR leadership would present the final draft of the proposed amendment to restore the state policy guidelines to national stakeholders, including political, business, and academic groups.
"We are currently seeking the most appropriate legal form for the future PPHN, primarily to prevent the guidelines from being sidestepped by executives passing a government regulation in lieu of law. Future development on the proposal will hinge on parliamentary parties and the Regional Representatives Council members," Soesatyo affirmed.
