Moreover, the goal of making Indonesia as the world's center for producing halal products has become our shared commitment.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Religious Affairs Ministry has officially launched a halal pocket book to increase public awareness about halal product assurance (JPH) from the upstream to downstream sectors.
Acting head of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), Mastuki, said that improving halal literacy would encourage halal awareness in the community, which has implications for the strengthening of the halal ecosystem in Indonesia.
"Moreover, halal is no longer a matter of fiqh in the context of halal versus haram. The concept of halal has experienced a rapid development related to sharia compliance, various fields of science, as well as the dynamic industrial world," he noted in a written statement received here on Tuesday.
The book discusses a number of important topics regarding the context of halal and the implementation of JPH, he informed.
They vary from the concept of halal in Islam and science, the urgency of consuming halal products, regulations on halal certification, government support for halal certification, halal as a global lifestyle, to procedures for ensuring halal products, he added.
The ministry has collaborated with the State Islamic University (UIN) of Surakarta in drafting the book, he said.

Mastuki assured that the role of UIN is in accordance with the mandate of the latest JPH regulation to provide opportunities for universities in implementing the JPH.
"It is one of the important roles of universities, especially the State Islamic Religious College (PTKIN). The UIN Surakarta has to be at the forefront in developing crucial studies in the halal sectors according to its capacity," he said.
He said he hoped that various halal literacy works will continue to be created in future to enrich the public’s halal literacy as an attempt to realize a halal lifestyle.
"The increase in the people’s halal literacy is one of the important indicators as well as a capital for the success of the implementation of JPH in Indonesia. Moreover, the goal of making Indonesia as the world's center for producing halal products has become our shared commitment," he added.

"Hence, BPJPH does not only belong to Indonesia, but also to the world," he remarked.
