Most of the MSMEs that received the packages are small restaurants, such as Padang restaurants and those that use tents, such as satay hawkers.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office plans to distribute packages of medical devices to MSMEs engaged in the entertainment and tourism sector to support the implementation of health protocols to expedite economic recovery.

"It is definitely headed towards (economic recovery). We do not close the possibility of distributing medical devices again this year," Head of the Supervisory Section of the Tourism and Creative Economy Office of West Jakarta, Budi, stated here on Wednesday.

Budi noted that the same packages were distributed to 350 businesses in the field of entertainment and tourism in December last year and January 2021.

The medical devices distributed comprised masks, thermo guns, hand sanitizers, and face shields for business employees, he pointed out.

Budi informed that the businesses aided by the medical devices were the ones classified as middle to lower level.

However, he did not specify the exact budget allocated for procurement of 350 packages of medical devices.

"Most of the MSMEs that received the packages are small restaurants, such as Padang restaurants and those that use tents, such as satay hawkers," he explained.

Budi remarked that the office was awaiting instructions and funds from the central government, specifically the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, for the procurement of these packages.

Earlier, he noted that in addition to distributing medical devices to business players, the West Jakarta city government had encouraged businesses to participate in the mass vaccination program.

The vaccination should be conducted, so that economic activities between consumers and producers can run safely in the midst of the pandemic, he affirmed.

Some 576 residents participated in the vaccination program held by the Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) of West Jakarta.

The figure comprised MSMEs and members of the public that took the vaccination at Pasar Kamal, Cengkareng Sub-district.

"The 576 people were administered the first or second dose," Chief of the West Jakarta PPKUKM Office Nuraini Silviana stated.

Silviana remarked that MSMEs had to be vaccinated to build strong immunity, so they would feel safe while conducting business activities.

Hence, Silviana noted that the wheels of the middle-level economy in West Jakarta would gradually spin during the COVID-19 pandemic.
