Make wearing a mask as something that is trendy and fashionableJakarta (ANTARA) - Government's spokesperson for COVID-19 handling Reisa Broto Asmoro elaborated on three key points deemed paramount to controlling the spread of COVID-19.
"We have come to the conclusion to apply these three points based on the observation of the level 2 regions that have consistently kept their COVID-19 situation under control," Asmoro noted during a press statement on the Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM) broadcast through the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel here on Wednesday.
The first point is to continue to maintain health protocols, she stated.
Asmoro emphasized that complying with health protocols, such as wearing a mask, washing hands, and maintaining safe distance, can minimize risk of contracting the disease through air and via inhalation of droplets dispersed by infected people.
"Make wearing a mask as something that is trendy and fashionable. Of course, the filtration rate and the mask effectiveness still have to be taken into account," she stated.
Asmoro drew attention to the second point of expediting vaccination and filtering those groups facing difficulties in accessing vaccination, such as the elderly and people with disabilities.
"Vaccinate them all. If the need arises, go door-to-door. Education workers should also be sorted out, so that everyone can be vaccinated immediately and live face-to-face learning trials can be conducted promptly," she expounded.
According to Asmoro, the third crucial aspect is limiting mobility and being more selective of where to go by getting accustomed to using the PeduliLindungi application to enter public facilities.
Asmoro noted that over 20 million people had used the PeduliLindungi application in shopping centers, the industry, sports facilities, and public spaces.
"The application has managed to filter out hundreds of thousands of people, who should have stayed home since they are not healthy," she pointed out.
Asmoro noted that the government had encouraged the people to conduct their activities in places that necessitate the use of the PeduliLindungi application, so that they could reduce the risk of COVID-19 infections.
