This sports industry has a large network and manages to have a positive effect on the tourism industry and creative economy sectors that are currently affected by the pandemic.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Presidential Staff (KSP) Chief Moeldoko is upbeat about the 2021 Esports President Cup (PPE) being a momentum for the development of sports in Indonesia.
"The government is optimistic that the 2021 Esports Presidential Cup would offer the necessary momentum to revive Indonesian tourism and encourage sports tourism to develop," Moeldoko noted in a press release at the opening of the 2021 PPE received here on Tuesday.
The KSP chief noted that the 2021 PPE is testament to the government's continued support to develop the esports industry and ecosystem in Indonesia.
Furthermore, Deputy II for Human Development at KSP Abetnego Tarigan noted that the government and the Indonesian House of Representatives were deliberating on the revision of the National Sports System Law.

Under the revision, esports will become one of the sports to compete in and foster achievements.
According to the KSP data, Indonesia is the largest country in the gaming industry market in the Asia Pacific and was ranked 12th globally in 2020.
Moreover, the market in Indonesia was estimated to be valued at Rp14 trillion in 2019, with the gaming industry recording an annual over 10-percent growth rate.
Based on the potential, President Joko Widodo initiated the first PPE tournament in 2019.
Furthermore, PPE 2021 is expected to have over 90 thousand participants, both local and foreign. Participants can choose between five match events on various platforms and genres.

The preliminary round of PPE 2021 will be held virtually from October to November 2021, while the final round will be held in December 2021 in Bali.
Hence, the final round of PPE is also expected to drive development of the tourism sector.
According to KSP, the 2021 PPE will be held in strict compliance with health protocols and also after taking into account the development of COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, the Youth and Sports Ministry is optimistic that local game developers and industry actors would make the most of the tournament, so that domestic esports continues to grow robustly.
In the PPE 2021, Lokapala is one of the local developers’ games that participants will be compete in.
