Jakarta (ANTARA) - The COVID-19 Handling Task Force has necessitated the use of PeduliLindungi application for domestic travelers as a replacement for the worker registration certificate (STRP).

This stipulation is described in the addendum of Circulation Letter No. 17 of 2021 on the requirement for domestic travelers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This addendum exists to remove the stipulation to bring STRP and to add a requirement for all domestic travelers and transportation operators to use the PeduliLindungi application," Head of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Ganip Warsito noted in a written statement received here on Monday.

Warsito explained that the addendum aimed to conduct monitoring, control, and evaluation of COVID-19 using the PeduliLindungi application in order to check the result of RT-PCR or antigen swab test and partial or complete vaccination certificate.

In accordance with the result of the limited ministerial-level coordination meeting on July 31, Warsito highlighted the need to adjust the handling mechanism for domestic travelers in order to respond to developments in handling the COVID-19 situation.

Warsito remarked that the addendum came into effect since September 7 for the extent of time to be determined later and will be further evaluated based on the latest on-field developments and evaluation results from related ministries or institutions.

In related news, the government is preparing an addendum to the international travel requirement by adding that travelers and transportation operators have to use the PeduliLindungi application, spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Wiku Adisasmito stated.

The spokesperson remarked that the use of the PeduliLindungi application was mandated to optimize the layered policy with a digital approach to handle COVID-19, including taking precautionary measures to thwart the entry of the new variant into Indonesia.
