Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta provincial government is awaiting the central government’s directive to lower the level of public activity restrictions (PPKM) after a 1.2-percent decline in the number of COVID-19 cases in the capital as of Sept 19.

“The PPKM level depends on the central government’s decision. Let us await the decision. In principle, whatever the decision is, we will implement it properly regardless of whether the PPKM will remain at level 3 or is lowered to level 2,” Jakarta Vice Governor Ahmad Riza Patria stated at the Jakarta City Hall on Monday.

According to the official data, Jakarta recorded the addition of 155 COVID-19 cases on Sept 19, thereby taking the number of confirmed cases since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic to 856,161.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases or patients undergoing treatment or conducting self-isolation fell by 29 to reach 2,879 as of Monday.

Of the 856,161 patients, some 839,803 recovered from COVID-19, up by 180, with a recovery rate of 98.1 percent, while 13,479 succumbed to the infection, up by four, with the death rate of 1.6 percent.

The positivity rate was recorded at 1.12 percent in the past week, well below the WHO upper limit of five percent for the safe area category.

Meanwhile, the bed occupancy rate of isolation centers and intensive care units (ICUs) of COVID-19 referral hospitals ahead of the deadline for the level 3 PPKM on Monday fell to nine percent and 20 percent respectively.

The level 2-4 PPKM for Java and Bali will end on Monday. The government will hold an evaluation meeting to take a decision on extending it.
