According to Thohir, it is proven that Indonesia can convince the world market, as the government has added capital worth Rp96 trillion.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - SOE Minister Erick Thohir invited all parties to maintain and ensure that the Indonesian market is only for economic growth of the nation and not for that of other countries.

"We are not anti-foreign, but we must ensure that our market is for Indonesia's economic growth and not for that of other countries," Thohir remarked while delivering an online open lecture at the Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Serang City, Banten, on Friday.

According to Thohir, the Indonesian market must be nurtured together on account of its value.

"Yesterday, when I spoke at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, (I stated that) we have a big market and a great marketable value. Hence, we, as public officials, should love our country in securing our market," the state-owned enterprises minister affirmed.

Thohir also noted that the merger of state holding company, Ultra Micro SOE, which was conducted by the ministry, had received support from the market and the world.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise to be God), we can also attest to this merger, as the capitalist market also supports it," he remarked.

According to Thohir, it is proven that Indonesia can convince the world market, as the government has added capital worth Rp96 trillion, which is the largest in Southeast Asia, the second in Asia, and the seventh-largest in the world.

Earlier, the minister noted that capital addition through the rights issue conducted by PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) was testament to the fact that Indonesia has a large market.

He revealed that BRI's rights issue was able to make MSMEs a key to driving economic growth in Indonesia.

Thohir also remarked that the SOE Ministry had encouraged the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) to be the largest in Southeast Asia. In addition, he urged state-owned enterprises to go public in order to sustain exchanges.
