Many obstacles faced

The hang gliding competition could not be carried out optimally due to a number of obstacles, including a heavy flow of flight traffic at Timika airport and bad weather conditions due to the rainy weather in Timika, Herminto said.

Facing such conditions, the organizers of the hang gliding competition prepared several scenarios.

"We always prepared several plans to anticipate obstacles during the match. When plan A, which was under normal conditions, did not work, then we used plan B, namely by reducing the round of matches," he elaborated.

The organizers decided to challenge the best athletes from each contingent to compete with their skills and strategies in one race, Herminto said.

With this policy, all match numbers could be completed, he added.

He said the policy had been agreed to by all contingents and was officially reported to the supervisory agency of the XX Papua PON.

"I have reported the conditions that have occurred so far, we cannot hold the hang gliding competition optimally. Everyone can understand the existing conditions," he added.
