Akmal recorded a total lift of 258 kg, comprising 116 kg in snatch lift and 142 kg in the clean and jerk lift.
The weightlifter completed the three snatch lift and three clean and jerk lifts flawlessly. She recorded 101 kg, 107 kg, and 116 kg in snatch lifts and 131 kg, 136, and 142 kg in the clean and jerk.
Her total lift at the Games surpassed her personal lifting record of 113 kg achieved in the Qatar Cup on December 29, 2019, thereby setting a new PON Games record.
Akmal dominated the women's weightlifting competition, outshining her competitors, Riska Oktaviana and Wuri Hasanah from West Kalimantan, Jihan Syafitri from Jambi, and Rena Ilasari from Riau.
Oktaviana from West Kalimantan bagged a silver medal in the weightlifting match after recording a total lift of 223 kg, with 116 kg of snatch and 142 kgs of clean and jerk lifts.
Three other competitors failed to win any medal. Jihan Syafitri recorded a total of 220 kg (93 kg snatch and 127 kg clean and jerk), while Wuri Hasanah recorded a 206-kg lift (96 kg snatch and 110 kg clean and jerk), and Rena Ilasari lifted a total of 190 kg (85 kg snatch and 105 kg clean and jerk).
Upon pocketing a gold in weightlifting, Akmal expressed gratitude to the Aceh residents for their support and dedicated her gold medal to them.
"I present this gold medal for the Aceh people. Thank you for your tireless support to me," the weightlifter affirmed.
