Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan applauded the transformation of the vocational training center (BLK) conducted by the Manpower Ministry.

Pandjaitan paid a visit to the Samarinda BLK in the company of Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah on Tuesday.

During the visit, Pandjaitan and Fauziyah observed some vocational schools, such as for automotive, welding, and manufacturing engineering, in Samarinda BLK.

“I was invited by Minister Fauziyah to observe the BLK in Samarinda. I thought that the training center was not so special like many years ago, but when I saw it directly, I was really surprised. Apparently, the BLK has transformed to be much better like this,” Pandjaitan noted in a press statement issued here on Wednesday.

The BLK transformation mirrors the efforts of the Manpower Ministry that should be commended, according to the coordinating minister.

Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah stated that the ministry is transforming the BLK as one of its agendas for the nine leap program.

Eight of the 21 Central Technical Implementation Units (UPTP) of BLK across Indonesia have been successfully transformed.

“Currently, the ministry continues to work hard to complete transforming all BLK UPTP across Indonesia,” she noted.

The ministry, with the BLK’s assistance, is also focusing on developing competent human resources, especially in East Kalimantan, she noted while expressing optimism that Minister Pandjaitan would support her to ensure everything ran smoothly.

“I kindly seek the support of Mr Pandjaitan in the attempts to create competent human resources that can fulfill the requirements to meet the local industry’s needs,” she remarked.
