Such dynamics cannot be ignored. All (aspects) of life must be digitally connectedJakarta (ANTARA) - Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian believes the time is ripe for villages to partake in digitalization, as being connected digitally nowadays is indispensable.
"Such dynamics cannot be ignored. All (aspects) of life must be digitally connected," the minister noted in a written statement received here on Thursday.
The minister delivered the statement during a workshop titled "Village Digitalization as an Instrument for Promoting Village Development and Economic Empowerment in the Context of Village Governance and TC-36 CIRDAP 2021."
Karnavian pointed to both pros and cons of the digital era, so everyone must be wise in using digital technology to thwart any form of negativity, for instance, the spread of hoaxes.
"However, from the government side, the fact is that digitalization of the system can reduce moral hazard actions in corruption," he added.
The stakeholders must increase the capacity of existing resources to better village governance. The resources in question include human resources and the infrastructure relevant to the digitization process of the governance system.
Director General of Village Government Development at the Home Affairs Ministry, Yusharto Huntoyungo, also voiced his support in terms of capacity building for village officials, the increasingly massive use of applications as part of the digitalization of village government, as well as using the pentahelix approach as a way to encourage better teamwork.
Huntoyungo also supported the efforts to expedite the development of information and technology infrastructure to cover all villages, integrate the use of data, improve work mechanisms, and streamline coordination from the sub-district government to the central government.
The home affairs minister also officiated the Yogyakarta Village Government Hall as an international standard hall on the same occasion.
The participants attending the event were Indonesian ambassadors who served in 14 member countries of the Center on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and Pacific (CIRDAP). The organization comprises 15 countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
