I believe that engineers have an important role in advancing Indonesia's tourism and creative economy sectorJakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has urged Indonesian engineers to contribute to the advancement of national tourism and creative economy industry.
During an online seminar held by the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) on Friday, he said: "I believe that engineers have an important role in advancing Indonesia's tourism and creative economy sector."
"We have to be brave in reaching for opportunities to develop Indonesia's economy that is becoming more competitive," he said.
During the event, the minister also called for engineers to actively involve themselves and collaborate with stakeholders who are also striving to revive the tourism and creative economy sector, which has been affected by COVID-19.
He also lauded the PII for formulating a recommendation based on the result of a focus group discussion to support the development of the tourism and creative economy and make it more competitive.

According to Uno, innovation, adaptation, and collaboration are a form of strategic direction for developing Indonesia's tourism and creative economy.
"We knew that for the last few months, the government is deemed to have successfully controlled the COVID-19," he noted.
"In addition, the government has also expedited vaccinations in various locations, which is expected to improve the world's trust in Indonesia," he said.
Moreover, the reopening of Indonesia's borders to international tourists is expected to be able to drive national tourism recovery, he said.
Earlier, he had said that he believes that tourism can become a strategic sector that can generate revenue for Indonesia's economy.
For the last few years, the output was at four percent, but quality and sustainable tourism could yield an output up to seven percent within five to 10 years, he added.
