If you drive a vehicle at 30 kmph with good control and preparation, it will create better safety.
Magelang, C Java (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi has urged drivers to keep their speed under 30 kilometers per hour (kmph) to prevent accidents in crowded areas such as tourism destinations and residential zones.

"We are delighted to collaborate with the Borobudur National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) at the peak event of the 2021 National Road Safety Week (PNKJ) to campaign for a new driving habit of having a maximum speed of 30 kmph in tourism areas," he remarked here on Saturday.

By lowering the speed limit, vehicles can be controlled well and road safety maintained, the minister said.

"If you drive a vehicle at 30 kmph with good control and preparation, it will create better safety," he emphasized.

Furthermore, the driving habit campaign in tourism destinations was carried out in collaboration with VW and Jeep communities at the site to attract public attention, he said.

At the peak event, the Transportation Minister also announced subsidy assistance for the vehicle community for supporting transportation services in the Borobudur KSPN, Magelang district, Central Java.

Meanwhile, Magelang district secretary Adi Waryanto said that according to the 2021 PNKJ's goal, it is expected that all road users in Borobudur KSPN will drive with a maximum speed of 30 kmph.

In addition, the driving habit will accord visitors -- both domestic and foreign ones -- greater comfort around the tourism destination area, he opined.

“Hopefully, they will be interested to stay here longer, hence the economy of the people around the Borobudur KSPN will improve," he added.
