The ministry and I will never stop trying new things and ensuring students can happily study through the Freedom to Learn Movement.Jakarta (ANTARA) - People with disabilities are prioritized to become Indonesia Smart Cards-College (KIP-Kuliah) recipients, Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Minister Nadiem Makarim stated at an event observed from here, Tuesday.
"The education ministry has provided a scholarship quota for students with special needs through High Education Affirmation, or ADik for the disabled, and prioritized disabled to become KIP-college recipients," he noted.
In addition to the scholarship, the government has offered Prime Scholarship and scholarship from the Finance Ministry's Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) for students with disabilities to continue their studies up to the doctorate level.
Makarim highlighted that access to higher education for students with disabilities is stipulated in Research, Technology, and High Education Ministerial Regulation No. 46 of 2017 on Special Education and Special Service Education in University.
Universities are not allowed to reject students with disabilities from studying in their campuses, he remarked.
He urged the students, comprising pupils with disabilities, to never give up on achieving their dreams.
"The ministry and I will never stop trying new things and ensuring that students can happily study through the Freedom to Learn Movement," he expounded.
"I would like to see you all become Pancasila students that could achieve their dreams in future and also become the pride of the nation and the world," he stated.
To this end, he called on all students to never give up and continue to forge ahead despite facing setbacks.
He drew attention to the Voice of Baceprot metal band comprising three young woman members, who are currently on a tour to eight cities in four European countries.
This all is possible since they never give up on achieving their dreams in the music industry.
"I believe that all of you have a talent in playing music, in sport, and in art. I believe all of you have a high goal and would like to be just like VoB or other people on the international stage," Makarim affirmed.
"I will tell you how to be a successful student. Keep trying," he stated.
