"We have come to know of several cases in other provinces that had sports facilities constructed for the national competition and then got neglected after the games concluded. We strive to prevent our sports facilities from meeting the same fate," acting head of the province's Youth and Sports Office, Alexander Kapisa, stated.
The sports facilities management scheme is divided into three main functions: technical maintenance and management, daily utilisation of sports facilities, and specific utilisation of facilities to boost the regional original revenue, the acting office head explained in Jayapura, Papua, on Monday.
"We have conceived the plan since 2020 to ensure prompt implementation after the conclusion of the PON Games and Peparnas," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Deputy V of the Presidential Staff Office Jaleswari Pramodhawardani lauded the Papuan government for conceiving the plan to utilise the sports facilities after the conclusion of the national games.
"President Joko Widodo earlier instructed us to collaborate and conceive a plan to manage and utilise sports facilities formerly hosting the national games with full professionalism," the presidential staff deputy stated.
Pramodhawardani noted that apart from handing out the responsibility of sports facilities to the regional authorities, the province's youth and sports office had also drafted the management procedure.
"Not only distributing the management's responsibility, but the office had also readied the planning procedure. We must laud this proactive measure on the management of sports facilities after the PON Games and the Peparnas as important," Pramodhawardani added.
