The commemoration of 2021 HDI must offer a momentum to ensure that wherever you are, the environment must be friendly to disabled peopleJakarta (ANTARA) - Social Affairs Minister Tri Risma Harini spoke of her ministry's focus on strengthening three strategies to ensure that the rights of disabled people are fulfilled.
The program was applied as part of the commemoration of the 2021 International Day of Disabled Persons (HDI).
"The Ministry of Social Affairs takes sides with disabled people by boosting the three strategies of strengthening an inclusive environment, reducing inequality, and growing leadership from disabled people," Harini stated during her press conference on Wednesday.
The minister highlighted the importance of an inclusive environment to foster involvement and participation of disabled people in various sectors.
"The commemoration of 2021 HDI must offer a momentum to ensure that wherever you are, the environment must be friendly to disabled people," she affirmed.

Harini expects more disabled-friendly locations to be created for disabled people not only in public spaces but also in the education sector since education is the constitutional right of Indonesian citizens.
"I hope public schools would accept disabled people. I believe that behind a person's disadvantages lay other hidden advantages. I believe that disabled people will equally compete with non-disabled individuals," Harini noted.
In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs, in collaboration with other institutions and the community, will continue to encourage young disabled people to become leaders in any field.
This aims to ensure that disabled people are at par with other individuals and will be able to actively participate in various decision-making processes.
