Hopefully, the court would be able to punish this savage and immoral perpetrator by slapping as many articles as possible on him
Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil has condemned the child rape case in an Islamic boarding school (pesantren) in Cibiru, Bandung City, West Java, and expressed hope that the rapist would be meted out severe punishment.

In the rape case involving the owner of the pesantren, HW, and several victims, who were students of the boarding school, the acts occurred from 2016 to 2021, and some of the victims had gotten pregnant.

HW is currently undergoing legal proceedings in court, and his school has been shut down.

“Hopefully, the court would be able to punish this savage and immoral perpetrator by slapping as many articles as possible on him," Kamil noted in his official statement, Thursday.

The governor urged law enforcement officials to hand out severe punishment to the perpetrator.

The governor ensured that the Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Family Planning (DP3AKB) Office of West Java Province is providing assistance to all the victims.

"Female students, who fell victims, have been and are being taken care of by the West Java provincial DP3AKB team for trauma healing, and currently, we are preparing a new education pattern according to their rights to grow and develop," the governor explained.

He called on all educational institutions and pesantren forums to give special attention to the sexual violence case.

He also called on village officials to always monitor all public activities in their respective area.

"Parents are urged to always monitor their children’s educational situation in boarding schools, so they could get up-to-date information of their children’s activities,” he noted.

"I hope this case would not happen again, and justice can be delivered in court in connection with this case," he affirmed.
