Jakarta (ANTARA) - Empowered women bring benefits and inspire the development and advancement of their families and the surrounding environment, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga has said.

"Various professions that women undertake, whether they become career women, politicians, activists, public figures, artists, or housewives, benefit and inspire those around them," she remarked.

During the 2021 Indonesian Art Partner (MSI) Mother's Day commemoration, held virtually on Wednesday, she said that women are a force to be reckoned with in various professional fields.

For instance, more inclusive policies have come from women leaders, and a majority of health workers who emerged as heroes during the COVID-19 pandemic were women, the minister elaborated.

In reality, the potential that women have makes them more capable of not just helping the nation survive, but also making all its people more advanced and prosperous, the minister affirmed.

"Almost all empowered women that I have met in various work visits do not just fight for themselves but also for their surroundings, whether that is family, the people, and the nation," she remarked.

Women have also acted as saviors of the nation's economy, Puspayoga said. During the 1998 economic crisis, women-owned micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) allowed the nation's economy to remain stable and survive, she expounded.

The same thing occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic when women-owned MSMEs have become the nation's collective hope for tiding over the crisis, she added.

To this end, she urged all parties to collectively synergize and work together to produce more smart, strong, and independent women.

According to Puspayoga, when a woman is empowered, then her family and her surroundings also develop, which brings prosperity for everyone.

"Happy 93th Mother's Day, Indonesian women. If women are empowered and children are protected, then Indonesia will advance," she affirmed.
