There should not be a single woman or child who experiences violence, no matter what the reason isJakarta (ANTARA) - Efforts must be undertaken to ensure not a single woman or child experiences violence, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, stressed in a press statement released here on Tuesday.
"While the data describes that the prevalence of violence against women and children has gone down, the figure is still worrying. This means that we cannot be satisfied and stop here," she said.
"Our journey is still long. There should not be a single woman or child who experiences violence, no matter what the reason is," she affirmed.
She said her ministry has released the results of the 2021 National Women Life Experience Survey (SPHPN), which indicate that there has been a decline in the prevalence of violence against women compared to 2016.
The ministry has carried out several efforts to prevent and handle violence against women across various sectors, at the level of family, society, regional governments, and ministries or institutions, Puspayoga said.
They include the Three Ends campaign, the Collective Movement to Stop Domestic Violence, and the development of a Women and Children Friendly Village (DRPPA) model, she added.

Meanwhile, head of Statistics Indonesia, Margo Yuwono, said that the issue of violence against women and children is the responsibility of many parties, including civilians.
According to Yuwono, the safety and security of women and children determines the prosperity and strength of a nation.
"The commitment to safety for women and children is described within the Indonesian government's priority programs for 2020–2024, namely the importance of improving the quality of children, women, and youth," he elaborated.
Moreover, there are two indicators that will serve as a benchmark for the success of the National Mid-term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020–2024, he said.
These indicators are the prevalence of violence against women in the last year and the prevalence of children who experience violence throughout their lives, he expounded.
"To this end, to observe the achievement of the government's program, it would require indicators that could describe the progress of improving the quality of children, women, and youth," he affirmed.
