Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan invited the leaders of successful startups to serve the country after recruiting former CEO of e-commerce firm Bukalapak, Rachmat Kaimuddin, as a special advisor.

Kaimuddin has been appointed as the Technology and Sustainability Development Special Advisor at the ministry, he said.

"I also invite those who have the same merit as Kaimuddin. For you who want to serve the government, contribute your ideas. You are heroes who bring change to this country, and serve as agents of change," Pandjaitan remarked at an online news conference here on Monday.

He said that as a special advisor at the ministry, Kaimuddin will give reports and inputs to him.

The minister also lauded Kaimuddin for being brave enough to leave his comfort zone in the private sector and commit himself to serve the country, especially considering the financial aspects.

"You know how things are in the government. But when I interviewed him, he said he was ready to dedicate himself to the government," he remarked.

According to the minister, Kaimuddin wished to contribute his experience and knowledge to the government and the Republic of Indonesia directly. He then expressed the hope that Kaimuddin will soon provide the best inputs for the sake of Indonesia.

Although Pandjaitan did not reveal the projects that Kaimuddin would assist in, he hinted that the green industrial estate in North Kalimantan was one of the projects that required attention.

"There are so many obstacles in the North Kalimantan program, which has an investment of US$132 billion. Hence, we need to be intelligent, careful, and market-oriented so we can show that the government is really in favor of the market," he said.
