We developed this model in order to prevent them from losing their place of business and economyJakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin affirmed that the government was building a smart village as permanent housing for residents affected by natural disasters.
"Thus, this is not only a settlement but also a type of Smart Village, meaning that a village that is organized and provided with complete places for business activities," Amin noted in a statement received in Jakarta, Friday.
The smart village concept is currently being developed for building permanent housing for people affected by the earthquake, liquefaction, and tsunami in Palu, Central Sulawesi, and in Lumajang, East Java, for those affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru.
"This is indeed a model that we do apply in several places when regional relocation occurs, including in Lumajang and Pombewe," the vice president remarked.
Amin noted that the smart village concept was developed to provide a place for the relocated community to develop micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), among others.
"We developed this model in order to prevent them from losing their place of business and economy," he affirmed.
Smart village is a village development program that applies digital technology and appropriate information to realize independence for villages in various regions.
According to the vice president, under the smart village concept, networks and internet connections are the main means for rural communities to achieve progress.
The smart village program was developed by the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration during the 2020-2024 period, with three thousand villages targeted.
