We should eliminate the stigma and perception of a slow and complicated bureaucracy while serving the people
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has urged officials from ministries, non-ministerial government institutions (K/L), and regional governments to improve public services to eliminate the negative image of a "slow" and "complicated" bureaucracy in Indonesia.

"We should eliminate the stigma and perception of a slow and complicated bureaucracy while serving the people," he noted while leading the Public Service Mall (MPP) dissemination meeting at the Central Sulawesi Governor's Office on Friday.

In a statement issued on Friday, he said that one of the efforts for improving public services in regions has been building MPPs in districts and cities.

This has been bolstered through the Presidential Regulation No. 89 of 2021 on Public Service Mall, he noted.

The development of Public Service Malls in districts and cities can expedite bureaucracy reformation in Indonesia, he affirmed.

The Vice President also urged all officials from district and city governments to increase the number of MPPs.

"Central Sulawesi already has one MPP. I hope that the MPP could be developed and expanded into all districts and cities in Central Sulawesi," he remarked.

The presence of MPPs allows for the easier provision of bureaucratic services for the people, Amin said.

The MPP is a form of One-Stop Integrated Service (PTSP), which integrates various types of public services from various institutions onto a single platform, he noted.

Developing an MPP does not require constructing a new building, he said. Existing facilities within district and city governments can be utilized for the purpose, he pointed out.

"We do not have to use a new building because it would require a large cost, but we can optimize existing facilities and infrastructure through the support of digital technology," he said.
