Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA) - A whirlwind damaged 45 houses in three villages in Bua Sub-district, Luwu District, South Sulawesi Province, on Saturday.

The strong wind caused damage to 21 houses in Lengkong Village, 20 houses in Raja Village, and four houses in Karang-Karangan Village, Bua Sub-district, acting Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman said here on Sunday.

The Social Service of South Sulawesi Province on Saturday night immediately distributed relief aid to residents affected by the natural disaster.

"The assistance has been distributed to residents affected by the whirlwind in Bua Sub-district," he said.

He hope that assistance from the government can help ease the burden of some 180 residents affected by the disaster.

Meanwhile, Head of the Social Service of South Sulawesi Andi Irawan Bintang said that the local government was planning to send more logistical stocks to help the victims.

"We are still monitoring and ready to provide additional logistical assistance," he said.
