Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) swore in three extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors (LBBP) of the Republic of Indonesia to friendly countries at the State Palace here on Wednesday.

Based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 4/P of 2022 on Ambassador Installation, read by apparatus administration deputy of the State Secretary Ministry, Nanik Purwanti, at the ceremony, Sunarko has been installed as the Indonesian Ambassador to the Republic of Sudan, and will be based in Khartoum.

Two others are Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Agus Widjojo, and Fientje Maritje Suebu.

Widjojo who is now the Indonesian Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines is accredited to the Republic of Marshall Islands and the Republic of Palau. He will be based in Manila; while Suebu has been appointed as the Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand, accredited to Samoa, Tonga Kingdom, Cook Islands, and Niue, and will be based in Wellington.

“(They have been) installed in Jakarta on January 11, 2022,” Purwanti announced.

After the reading of the presidential decree, President Widodo swore in the ambassadors.

“I swear and promise that to be appointed as an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador, I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will implement laws and regulations as straight as possible for the sake of my charity to the nation and state,” they said while taking the oath.

“In conducting my duties, I will uphold the ethics of my position, work optimally and with full of responsibilities. I will work loyally with all orders and instructions given by the central government and I will faithfully fulfill all obligations entrusted to me as an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador,” they added.

The ceremony ended with the newly installed ambassadors getting congratulated for their appointment.
