Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has inspected facilities at Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), to be used as an entry access to NTB ahead of the Mandalika MotoGP on March 18-20, 2022.

"I checked the arrival gate at the airport and also the process at the airport. I had seen everything related to health protocols, the PCR test booth, and checked the vaccine certificate verification. All processes are being managed well," Jokowi noted at the Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, Lombok, on Thursday.

The president reviewed several facilities, including temperature checkpoints and electronic health alert cards or e-HAC, immigration document checkpoints, baggage collection, and customs checkpoints.

Meanwhile, Mandalika MotoGP Field Commander Marshal (Ret) Hadi Tjahjanto noted that the authority will increase flight frequency from several cities to Lombok ahead of the 2022 MotoGP event.

"The frequency of flights will be increased from Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali, and Makassar. Hopefully, it would be convenient for the spectators to attend the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP event," he stated.

Accompanying the president during the working visit to Lombok were Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Thohir, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya, Governor of West Nusa Tenggara Zulkieflimansyah, and the MotoGP Field Commander Mandalika 2022 Marshal (ret) Tjahjanto

Tjahjanto conveyed that the government is still working on improving various infrastructures around the Mandalika Circuit.

"We are improving infrastructure, such as the road infrastructure from Lombok International Airport to the bypass, especially the bypass road at the end of the Sunggu Roundabout," he stated.

President Jokowi, riding a custom Kawasaki W175 metallic green motorbike, also inspected the BIL-Mandalika Bypass Road and reviewed the readiness of several infrastructures for the 2022 MotoGP event.

The 2022 Indonesian MotoGP series will be the second series of the MotoGP events scheduled to take place on March 18-20, 2022, at the Mandalika International Street Circuit.
